My philosophy on photographing families is simple. Choose a location that they feel comfortable in (most often their home), take the time for us all to relax and allow them to be who they are. I do not give too many instructions beforehand generally something like perhaps tidy the house a little but do not get too worried about it being spotless and wear what you feel comfortable in. Simple.

This beautiful family were the epitome of relaxed. I was greeted at the door with “sorry we did not have time to tidy up” and “I hope my clothes are fine because I don’t want to get changed.” They had also been to the local fete in the morning and their 8 year old had a beautiful array of coloured stripes through her hair. Just beautiful.
